Five weeks to write a play! This course is for all playwrights: absolute beginners as well as those with more experience. Or if you're a creative writer of any stripe, this course will help you skill up. Maybe you've already started a play; maybe you know the basic story; maybe you've never even thought about writing a play, but have a niggling feeling that it might be fun - then this is for you.

Write without distractions and get that draft you've being putting off started or finished completed! You can know everything about theatre or nothing at all: we'll learn, play and support each other together. This is a space to develop and write with a supportive non-judgemental group. Playing is the theme for this course and we're going to have loads of fun while getting those words down and developing our craft together each week.

Anna Ryder is a theatre director, dramaturg and script reader with a wealth of experience facilitating writing workshops and working with writers to develop new scripts for the stage. She is interested in how our cultural heritage informs our contemporary world and in ensuring that future generations inherit of canon with a greater diversity of voice. Anna has worked as a director and dramaturg for companies including the RSC; Live Theatre; Jermyn Street Theatre; Paines Plough; New Writing North; and Northern Stage.
