Join Kerry Ryan for this immersive two-hour workshop that delves into the strange, the unsettling and the uncanny, featuring writing from Julia Armfield, Daisy Johnson, Helen Oyeyemi, Carmen Machado Marquez, Lucy Rose and others who have mastered the eerie, the mythical and the surreal.

No matter what you write, this workshop will help you weave psychological unease and ambiguity into your writing. Developing suspense and tension are skills that transcend genre. So whether you're working on fiction, memoir or poetry, come and take a deep dive into the strange and uncanny, enhance your craft and open new doors to your imagination!

Dr Kerry Ryan has won the Spilling Ink short story prize, the Hachette GYOS prize 2024, was shortlisted for the Myriad First Editions prize, the 2023 Writers & Artists Prize, the HG Wells Prize 2023, and has had writing published in The Manchester Review, The Kenyon Review, 3am Magazine among others. Her uncanny story 'The Thunder Mutters' was published in Bannister Press's anthology of the best speculative fiction of 2024. She is contributing editor of ‘So Long as You Write‘ (Dear Damsels) and the Write like a Grrrl anthology (Grind and Bearing). Her poetry can be found in the Spectrum anthology by Renard Press, longlisted for the Rialto prize and published widely.
